Make the area safe first

Before anything else, consider safety. If water is near electrical outlets or the switchboard, avoid the area and switch off power at the mains only if it is safe to do so.

Keep people and pets away from affected rooms until the situation is assessed.

Stop the source if you can

If the water is coming from a burst pipe or overflowing fixture, turn off the water at the mains where practical. This limits how much damage occurs while help is arranged.

Document and remove what you can

Take photos and short videos for your records and any claim. Move valuables and lift soft furnishings off wet floors if it is safe.

Arrange professional drying quickly

Water spreads and can lead to mould if not dried properly. Professional extraction and structural drying reduce secondary damage. Contact a restoration team promptly.
